Appeals: The Bishop Creighton House Settlement and the Fulham Palace Museum
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Bishop Creighton House Settlement and the Fulham Palace Museum are having a joint fund-raising party on Wednesday 12 May, at 6.30pm, at Fulham Palace Museum, Fulham, London. Bishop Creighton House Settlement, a multi-purpose community centre open during the day and evenings, offers practical help and advice to the unemployed, older people and those with disabilities. Its work includes community education for refugees as well as welcoming local self-help groups to use its centre. The BCH Settlement needs to raise pounds 170,000 to expand its community care facilities. Fulham Palace Museum has only recently been founded and aims to illustrate the history of Fulham Palace which was home to the bishops of London from Elizabethan times until 1973. Dr Mandell Creighton, whose widow created the charity in 1908 in his name, lived at Fulham Palace. Party tickets, which include wine and food prepared by 10 local restaurants, cost pounds 20, are available from:
Bishop Creighton House, 378 Lillie Road, London SW6 7PH, telephone 071-385 9689.
