Loretto

A confirmation service will take place in Loretto Chapel on Sunday 2 May at 6.30pm when the officiating Ministers will be the Most Rev Richard Holloway, Bishop of Edinburgh, Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church, and the Very Rev William JG McDonald, former Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

The Loretto/Heriot Watt University Lecture 1993, entitled 'Global Warming: Fact or Fiction?', will be given by Sir John Mason, former Director General of the Meteorological Office at 8pm on Wednesday 12 May in the Loretto Theatre.

A Memorial Service for The Rev Stephen T. Hutchinson, former Master at Loretto Nippers (1935-50) and former Headmaster of Larchfield (1950-65) will be held at 10.30am on Sunday 16 May in Loretto Chapel.

The Loretto Combined Cadet Force Annual General Inspection will be held on Friday 28 May when the Inspecting Officer will be Mr Malcolm Rifkind QC MP, Secretary of State for Defence.

A commemorative service in honour of the late Mr Jim Clark (OL 1952), World Motor Racing Champion 1963 and 1965, will be held at 7pm on Friday 25 June in Loretto Chapel. The Very Rev R. Leonard Small will give an address at the Service and Mr Innes Ireland, President of the British Racing Drivers' Club, will be the guest speaker at the Jim Clark Dinner which will take place at 8.15pm in the Loretto Dining Hall.

On Saturday 26 June the Headmaster will be inducted as a Chaplain to The Queen in Scotland at a Service in St Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, at 7pm.

Loretto Day 1993 will be held on Sunday 27 June beginning with Morning Service in Loretto Chapel at 10.30am when the Preacher will be Viscount Tonypandy.
