Your support makes all the difference. She is an acclaimed photographer who has worked for Vogue and Vanity Fair – so it comes as no surprise that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian wanted her to capture their wedding day on film.
But after declining the project, Annie Leibovitz found herself in a war of words with the infamously outspoken Kanye.
Speaking at the 2014 Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival, the “Gold Digger” rapper claimed that Leibovitz – who is globally renowned for shooting the likes of Kirsten Dunst, Leonardo DiCaprio and Angelina Jolie - was “afraid of celebrity”.
But, in a statement sent to TMZ, which also includes comments from Kanye, a representative for Leibovitz has cleared things up.
Initially refusing to play ball with a rapper who is used to getting his own way, the representative pointed out that Leibovitz is "not known to shoot weddings” and, in fact, was “never confirmed” for the gig in the first place.
However, the statement went on to say that Leibovitz, who was responsible for Kimye's recent Vogue cover, "would have loved to have taken their wedding portrait and was disappointed it didn't happen”.
But any "disappointment" on her part could hardly beat that of Kanye. Following Kim posting an image of the pair kissing at their nuptials, which became the most lliked post of all time on Instagram, he said: “Picture this. The most-liked Instagram photo of all time, shot by Annie Leibovitz. Oh, I'm sorry for dreaming out loud. Again.”
Apparently he wasn't “assigning blame” though. It's just that Kanye "dreams big".
"He loves and respects Annie as a true artist and wanted to bring her eye for beauty to the imagery of the event," the statement said.
