Amy Schumer used her Saturday Night Live hosting debut to mock gun enthusiasts.
Appearing in the sketch with SNL cast members, Schumer contributed to the gun control debate by featuring in a fake advert for guns.
The advert portrayed the involvement of guns in life events, ranging from romantic dates to childbirth.
As the various scenarios were shown, a voiceover mockingly said: “[Guns] unite us, comfort us, bring us joy and strength… Wherever life takes you, guns we’re here to stay”.
The comedian previously contributed to the gun control debate after a mass shooting happened during a screening of her film, Trainwreck in July.
The incident, in a cinema in Lafayette, Louisiana, left two people dead and nine injured.
Schumer, 34, said at the time her “heart is broken” and consequently gave an emotional press conference, saying: “These shootings have got to stop, I don’t know how else to say it”.
Her SNL feature appeared to support the conclusive sentence she gave during that press conference: “These are my first public comments on the issue of gun violence but I can promise you they will not be my last.”
