The Canadian actress passed away at a hospice in Toronto on Saturday, following a long battle with cancer, her agent Pam Winter confirmed.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the luminous Alberta Watson,” Winter said in a statement to People magazine. “Alberta died in the arms of her beloved [husband] Ken.”
Watson played the character Erin Driscoll opposite Kiefer Sutherland's Agent Jack Bauer the fourth series of the thriller.
Her most recent role was the part of Madeline Pierce in Nikita, a remake of the Nineties show La Femme Nikita, of which she also starred.
Watson was first diagnosed with lymphoma when she was filming the second season of the crime thriller in 1998. Producers scheduled filming around her chemotherapy treatment.
