The Croats and Bosnians, all Christians working on a water pipeline, were clubbed or stabbed to death on Tuesday night. They are thought to have been killed by one of the armed groups seeking an Islamic republic in Algeria. The motive may have been to avenge the plight of Bosnia's Muslims.
Foreigners have been warned by Islamic militants to leave Algeria by 30 November or face death - a shift in tactics by extremists who have killed 1,700 Algerians in the past 22 months. The murder of four foreign workers last week has caused an exodus of expertise, affecting the economy.
