From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. ITV insisted has insisted that no decision had been made on who would replace Fern Britton on This Morning, following reports that Holly Willoughby was in line for the job.

Speculation over who would fill the coveted spot on the sofa has been rife since Fern, 51, announced in March she was leaving the show after ten years.

Melanie Sykes was the front runner for some time, and former king of the sofa Richard Madeley backed Myleene Klass in April, but today The Sun reported that Holly was set to be reunited with Dancing On Ice co-host Phillip Schofield on the popular daytime show.

The newspaper quoted show sources who said the fact that Holly, 28, recently gave birth to a son, Harry, would give her common ground with many This Morning viewers.

But a spokeswoman for the show said: "No decision has been made at the moment, but one is expected in the next few weeks."
