Question Time: Lisa Snowdon
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Balance: "I like cooking for family and friends, going out for dinners (as long as they are early!)"
Have you come down from strictly come dancing yet?
Strictly was such a whirlwind. I really miss learning a new dance under pressure each week and the craziness of a Saturday night performance.
Are the early mornings on the capital breakfast show getting any easier?
I find myself waking up at 4.30am at the weekend, which is frustrating. But now that summer is coming it is actually great to be up early.
What inspired you to work in broadcasting?
Top Of The Pops was always a favourite programme of mine so it was extra special when I later got a job hosting the show.
What was your first break?
Working for MTV hosting a daily show called Select.
Any jobs, in and out of the media, you would rather forget about?
I worked as a silver-service waitress in a restaurant over Christmas one year, which was a disaster. They gave me very little training in how exactly to use the fork and spoon and then sent me off to serve these boiling hot silver platters of sliced roast beef and gravy. You can imagine what happened: hot gravy all over my first customer.
And what has been the trickiest job to pull off?
Working with Johnny everyday, because he totally keeps me on my toes. You never know what is going to happen.
Who in the industry would you most like to work with?
I think Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins are great; Russell Brand, Jimmy Carr and Jonathan Ross. Also Matt Lucas and David Walliams – the Little Britain boys.
What do you tune into when you're not working?
My favourite TV programme is Brothers And Sisters – it is amazing. I also enjoy The Apprentice.
What are your desert island media?
The Sunday Times, a Sex And The City box set and a copy of Elle magazine.
