Your support makes all the difference.The Sun has removed an article about a Valentine’s Day card which poked fun at Caroline Flack following the presenter’s death.
The now-deleted piece reported that a card was on sale which referenced allegations that she hit her boyfriend Lewis Burton over the head with a lamp in a fight.
The article – which had the headline “Brutal Caroline Flack Valentine’s Day card mocks troubled star with ‘I’ll f*** lamp you’ message'" - is now unavailable online following her death.
The ex-Love Island presenter was found dead in her London flat after taking her own life, a family lawyer said on Saturday.
Tributes have flooded in for Flack on social media, with some celebrities reminding people to “be kind”.
Flack had called the period following her arrest and departure from Love Island over the assault case “the worst time of my life”.
While she congratulated her replacement, Laura Whitmore, she admitted she was having a “really rough time”.
She was due to go on trial in March for assault.
The star's management on Saturday criticised the Crown Prosecution Service for pressing ahead with her “show trial” even after her boyfriend said he did not support it.
“In recent months Caroline had been under huge pressure because of an ongoing case and potential trial which has been well reported."
When the creator was asked about his Flack card, he told The Sun: “I’m surprised that’s the card you choose to write about. I’ve joked about far worse.”
Dan Wootton, executive editor of The Sun, called Flack “extraordinary” and “vulnerable” in a tribute on Twitter following reports of her death.
“Caroline was hung out to dry by ITV,” he said. “She was distraught they didn’t stand by her. And distraught about the lack of support she was given”.
Social media users were quick to remind the journalist of his newspaper’s article from yesterday.
“Care to run us through this Daniel?” tweeted one reply, sharing an image of the piece about the Valentine’s Day card.
