Age vs beauty: The reality TV game
Will 'Strictly Come Dancing' really ditch an expert for younger, prettier model?
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Also known as: She who must be obeyed.
Dancing skills: Began ballet classes at three. Has choreographed some of the most successful West End shows.
Contribution to pop: Choreographed the Seventies and Eighties dance sensations Hot Gossip.

The face of: The British Empire – was made an OBE in 2001 for getting the nation dancing
World records: Not officially, but is probably planning one involving young male dancers and their bottoms.
Mountains climbed: Not literally, but she did choreograph The Sound of Music in 2006, starring Connie Fisher.
Heartbreak: Yes, but mostly as the cause rather than the recipient among her young dance students
Marital status: Arlene and her husband, 49-year-old Angus Ion have been together for more than 20 years.
Sex appeal: For the sort of person who has finally accepted it's no longer OK to have a crush on Margaret Thatcher.
