Energis has appointed Christopher Burke as its new director of network operations and engineering. Burke joins from Nortel, where he was group account director.

Nigel Hudson has been appointed group business development manager at the Sage Group. He was previously an accounts product manager for Sagesoft Ltd.

Alan Bates has been appointed chairman of the board at Digital Mail Ltd. Bates was formerly chief executive officer of Bell Cablemedia. Other recent appointees to the DML board include Peter Cook, formerly with AT&T, and Allan Hodgson, who was previously finance director of the Alcan Group.

Rupert Soames has been appointed chief executive of Midas-Kapiti International. He joins from Avery Berkel UK, where he was managing director.

Guy Willner has been appointed director of business operations for Cable Corporation Business Services. Willner was previously a business development manager with the company.

Eric C Cooper, chairman and CEO of Fore Systems, has been named Entrepreneur of the Year in the Carnegie Science Centre's first annual Science Awards for Excellencen
