Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A new series of Prison Break that has started on Five. I didn't watch the first series, but liked the look of it, so tuned in. It's a US programme about a group of people who have escaped from prison. It was pretty good, actually. Also I never miss an episode of Desperate Housewives on a Wednesday night. My mum and my sisters always watch it, so I originally got forced to as well. Now I love the programme: it's enjoyable and fun.
Last week I listened to...
My main radio station is Magic FM, which Dad always has on in the car. I'm never able to guess their Magic Mystery Voices: a competition where three celebrities read out the station's name. The radio in my bedroom is always tuned in to Kiss FM, which I tend to listen to before I go out at night, or when I wake up. I only turn it on for the music, though. I couldn't tell you anything about the Kiss FM chat.
Last week I surfed...
I was looking through the internet at school and found this site called www.boreme.com. It's a mixture of funny videos from TV and real life. There was a clip from Ali G, and footage of some people ordering a drive-through McDonald's by rapping. I go on MySpace quite a lot, too. I tend to get friends rather than fans on my page, though apparently there's a tribute MySpace page to me, which I keep being told about.
Last week I read...
My sisters always leave gossip magazines around the house, things such asHeat, and the last lot have been all about Big Brother. As I haven't been watching the show, it wasn't very interesting. My mum gets the Daily Mail every day. I'm not a major fan of it, but I do flick through the sports pages, as I follow Reading FC a lot and like to keep up with football news. There's been a lot lately about Jose Mourinho, and whether he'll stay or go. I think he's a fun guy to have around, but as I'm not a Chelsea fan, I'd be secretly pleased if he goes.
Nicholas Hoult stars in 'Skins', starting on Thursday on E4, 10pm
