More sales success for 'The Independent'
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Independent continues to go from strength to strength, with yesterday's release of the audited circulation figures for November showing another year-on-year increase in readers.
In November, the average daily sale of The Independent was 263,449, representing an increase of 0.4 per cent on the same period last year. Meanwhile, the Independent on Sunday, in the first full month of its compact format, sold an average of 225,629, a rise of 6.3 per cent on November 2004.
Those figures come in the month when The Independent added to its haul of recent awards by being named Political Journal of the Year by the Political Studies Association. In their citation, the judges said: "The Independent's coverage has been sensational rather than sensationalist, always backed by good science, in-depth reporting and stark visual evidence."
Ivan Fallon, Chief Executive of Independent News and Media (UK), said yesterday: "We are delighted with the progress of the two Independent titles. In particular, the circulation increase for the new Independent on Sunday is very heartening for us all. We would like to thank our readers for their continuing support."
