Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

THE INDEPENDENT is offering students on broadcasting-related courses and trainees in the industry the opportunity to attend workshops at the Television Show for a reduced price. Standby workshop tickets will cost pounds 2, less than half the normal price.

Available places on the workshops listed below will be allocated at the workshop ticket desk on a first-come, first-served basis. To ensure that you are eligible to take advantage of this offer, you should do the following:

obtain a letter from your college or employer confirming that you are a broadcasting student or trainee;

take your letter and a copy of that day's Independent with you to the show. (For example, if you want to go to workshops on Friday, you would take Friday's copy of the newspaper.)

The Television Show, an event for film and video production professionals, is being held at the Islington Design Centre from 10am to 7pm today and tomorrow and from 10am to 5pm on Friday.
