From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

"Eenie Meenie" has pushed "#nowplaying" out of the top spot in Twitter's trending topics list on the morning of April 29.

The song, performed by Jamaican-American rap singer Sean Kingston and featuring Canadian teen star Justin Bieber, is making waves on Twitter as microbloggers post links to the "Eenie Meenie" video clip.

Justin Bieber has taken out second place on the charts, moving up two places since Wednesday, while "#nowplaying" has sunk two places to number three. "#dearsomeone" has also dropped two places over night and is now in fourth place.

Twitter users are clearing up any future misunderstandings, using the "LetsBeClear" hashtag. "#LetsBeClear" is a new entry on the Twitter charts and is trending in fifth place.

"#ihatequotes" has moved up the charts from tenth place to number six in one day.

"#HowYouBallin", a meme that can roughly be translated into "how are you living such a rich lifestyle?" is sitting in seventh place.

"I'd appreciate it if"... "people were less opinionated!! life is not a debate!!! join the chess team and shut up!!", "you tweet me a link to a paper about the evils of multitasking," "the world revolved around me a bit less... "#yeahthatsme" and "#itsme" are in ninth and tenth places as people talk about their attributes.
