Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

THE Independent on Sunday's editor, Rosie Boycott, has been appointed editor of the Independent daily title, making her the first woman editor of a national daily broadsheet newspaper. In her new role, she will now be executive editor of both titles.

Ms Boycott, 46, the co-founder of Spare Rib and Virago publishing, has edited the Independent on Sunday since October 1996. She has also worked at the Daily Mail, the Sunday Telegraph and Harpers and Queen, before twice winning Magazine Editor of the Year as editor of Esquire magazine. In 1984, she published her autobiography, A Nice Girl Like Me.

Stephen Fay, 59, remains deputy editor of the IoS. A former Sunday Times journalist and editor of Business magazine, he has worked as Ms Boycott's deputy for the past year.

Chris Blackhurst, 38, formerly the Westminster correspondent of the Independent daily title and a deputy editor of the IoS, has been appointed deputy editor of the Independent.
