Your support makes all the difference.The governor of Holloway prison, Janet King, is to leave her job weeks after inspectors walked out of the jail in protest at "unacceptably low" standards, it emerged yesterday.
She is leaving the north London women's prison to take up a personnel job at Prison Service headquarters ensuring staff are being deployed to maximum effect.
Speculation about Ms King's future has been rife since the recently appointed Chief Inspector of Prisons, Sir David Ramsbotham, took the unprecedented stop of pulling out his four-strong team halfway through an unannounced inspection last month. It is believed the inspectors found an "over-zealous'' security regime with inmates locked in their cells most of the day.
