Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The Independent 100 tables - published every spring - are compiled by the Independent on Sunday in association with accountants Price Waterhouse. They are based on annual compound sales growth over a five-year period. The minimum turn- over in the first year is pounds 500,000.
To mark the considerable achievement of companies that manage to sustain fast growth, there is a further listing - published at the same time - called the Middle Market Award. To qualify for inclusion, companies will have to show sales of at least pounds 5m in the financial year ended 30 June 1992 and have more than 150 employees in the year ending 30 June 1996.
Since the listing was launched in 1990, it has become established as a prime indicator of the sort of high-growth companies that are now such important sources of economic wealth.
If you think your business can compete in this sort of company, contact Julie Harwood of Price Waterhouse for an entry form and return it to her at Southwark Towers, 32 London Bridge Street, London SE1 9SY not later than Friday 28 February.
