This online programme, offering high-level business education to thousands of people through a disruptive model, is democratising an exclusive industry – and now launching in Britain

The business world is undergoing a revolution and as traditional ways of working are replaced by tech-driven approaches, there is an even greater need for outstanding business education.
However, conventional teaching methods are no longer equipping professionals with the skills needed to run companies in fast-paced, ever-changing environments.
Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes for example have been around for more than 100 years and many are starting to look outdated. Across the world they have suffered a decline in applications due to the sometimes prohibitive costs and the time commitment required.
Fewer and fewer people are seeing the returns of investment on their MBA, provided that they can afford it in the first place. Would-be students increasingly value real-life experience over classroom learning and question the logic of going into substantial debt in times of global uncertainty.

Unlocking business education for everyone
The programme, which launches in the UK this September, consists of 250 video classes. It can be completed in 10 months and requires students to study for just 15 minutes per day.
It’s the brainchild of Spanish entrepreneur Hugo Arévalo, pictured left, and three other founders Borja Adanero Guinea, Kike Corral and Rafael Gonzalo Corral whose goal is to make ThePowerMBA the world’s fastest-growing business school within two years.
“We want to make business knowledge accessible for everyone,” he says. “Our goal is to unlock a market that was only open to those with time and money.”
It has already captured the interest of 40,000 students across 60 countries. These include employees looking to improve their skills and entrepreneurs wanting to launch their own ventures.
What are the differences between traditional business education and ThePowerMBA?
The program costs less than £1,000 and lessons can be watched at any time on smartphones, laptops or tablets. It’s an affordable, practical and effective way to learn.
The curriculum covers a wide spectrum of business fundamentals and strategies, including entrepreneurship, leadership, management techniques, and finance.
There are also real-life case studies so students can learn how leading business figures – such as Chris Barton, who co-founded music recognition app Shazam – turned business theory into practice.
Crucially, the program is constantly updated to ensure the content remains fresh and relevant, while keeping pace with a changing business world.
Arévalo wants to replicate within higher education what disruptive companies such as Spotify, Netflix and Airbnb have achieved in their respective industries. “Education should be flexible, convenient and adapt to your daily routine,” he emphasises.
The global program launches soon, with more than 350 UK students already signed up in Class 1 and engaged networking communities in major cities, such as London and Manchester, with many more to come.
