Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Adam and William Davies, Luke and Miles Holbrook and Dale and Lucas Currell reversed the traditional trend of girls doing best by notching a clutch of top-grade results.
Between them the boys, all aged 16, gained a total of 48 A* and A-grade GCSEs.
They will receive their results at independent Brighton College in Brighton, East Sussex, where 70% of pupils achieved A* or A-grade GCSEs.
Headmaster Richard Cairns said 100% of students gained five A* to C grades, following on from last week when the students there gained the best A-level grades of any co-educational school in England.
Mr Cairns said: "Our record GCSE results are testament to great teaching and tremendous hard work from pupils who also invest time and energy in the dance studio, the music school and on the playing fields.
"It is especially good to see boys turning out results every bit as impressive as the girls."
