Graeme Elder yesterday resigned as coach of Scottish Third Division club Queen's Park, but the 36-year-old will remain at the club as a player.

Neil Whitworth, who was taken ill with tuberculosis last season, has been released by Scottish premier division club Kilmarnock. The 25-year- old former Manchester United defender, who has been on a monthly contract, has spent three and a half years at Rugby Park. But he has been unable to hold down a first team place this season.

Sheffield Wednesday have released 28-year-old former Shrewsbury and Doncaster striker, O'Neill Donaldson. He has been on week-to-week terms and recently completed a month's loan at Oxford.

Dutch First Division club Roda JC Kerkrade sacked their coach Martin Jol yesterday - just 12 hours after suffering a 4-1 home defeat in the European Cup-Winners' Cup quarter-finals to Italian side Vicenza.
