Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

LEOPARDSTOWN

1.15: PRIVATE PEACE, who beat Guest Performance by 11/2 lengths in the 2m 4f Grade One Chiquita Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse in November, will be hard to beat. Glebe Lad is the danger.

1.50: LORD SINGAPORE, a head second to Time For A Run in the 3m Grade Two Paddy Power Handicap Chase over course and distance last time, can go one better. Shanagarry is the threat.

2.25: METASTASIO, fifth in this race last year, beat Go Now by half a length in a 3m handicap hurdle here at Christmas. He remains well handicapped and, in today's heavy ground, could make his stamina count. Tibetan and Hard News may pose the most problems.

SANDOWN

2.05: CYFOR MALTA, twice a winner at Auteuil this season, looks another smart recruit to chasing from France for Martin Pipe. Angelo's Double is the danger.

2.35: GREY SHOT, a Group-class stayer on the Flat, was a 23 lengths winner of a Taunton novices' hurdle on his jumping debut. He has been backed for the Champion Hurdle and may outpace French Holly, who may need further. Buddy Marvel should also go well.

3.10: YORKSHIRE GALE, who beat Stormtracker by 24 lengths over 3m 1f at Cheltenham on his reappearance, remains on a fair handicap mark, stays well and likes this track. Hermes Harvest may be the most potent threat.

3.40: JET FILES, who beat In The Blood by a head at Towcester (2m 5f) last time, is fairly treated and open to improvement. Reach The Clouds may be the danger.
