Open Eye: Invitation to dinner
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. There are still places available at some of the Graduate Dinners being organised by the Alumni Association in partnership with the Association of OU Graduates , the OUBS MBA Alumni Association, and the Students Association (OUSA)
Most of the dinners are directly linked with this year's graduation ceremonies - an innovation to mark a significant year in the OU's history.
The three-fold themes of these celebrations will be 25 years of graduations, 30 years of the OU and its partnership with the BBC - and 250,000 degrees and major awards.
A schedule of the planned dinner venues is below. Except for the black- tie, event in Central London, dinners will cost about pounds 20.00 per person (guests are welcome) and will include a three-course meal followed by either an after-dinner speaker or a disco.
We are planning to invite all new graduates attending the following day's degree ceremony as well as past graduates who live in the area.
It is rare that OU graduands and graduates get the chance to come together - and this represents the perfect opportunity to share the OU Experience.
We hope you will mark the dates in your diary now, and make a point of coming along.
You can obtain more details of the dinners - and make a provisional reservation - either by e-mail to alum@open.ac.uk, or by phone on 01908 655751. The list of dates and venues is as follows:
