An academic with links to Muammar Gaddafi's son, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, has resigned from his post at the London School of Economics ahead of the publication of a report into the university's relationship with Libya.
Professor David Held was an informal adviser to Saif al-Islam when the Libyan leader's son was studying for a PhD at the university. He was also appointed to the board of a charity run by Saif al-Islam shortly after it donated £300,000 to the university.
