Education Letter: Class action

I have no doubt that Luton provides a good, if not better, higher education than Oxford ('Luton who? We're just as good as Oxford, but different,' EDUCATION, 28 October). Unfortunately, I also have no doubt that simply going to Oxford is a lot more helpful to students' later careers than anything they may learn there. One wonders what New Labour plans to do to redress the social discrimination in British higher education.
