Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Children's Express produces news and comment by young people for everyone.

We operate like a news agency, delivering articles and broadcasts by teams of young people aged five to 18, to national, regional and local media. In the process we raise self-esteem, build confidence and teach new skills, while helping to build a better understanding between the world of adults and the youth of today.

Since 1994, we have opened offices in seven UK cities and published close to 600 stories.

Interviews for this supplement were conducted by (clockwise from top left): London members Akosua Bonsu, 16, Annabel McLeod, 16, Klarisse Osei, 15, Ella Parry-Davies, 13, and Danyel Edwards, 16, and by Sheffield members Louise Hardy, 16, Sabrina Golding, 15, and Jasmine Stewart, 15. Additional reporting was carried out by Jenny Matthews, 16, and Holly Gillway, 13, both from Sheffield.
