THE Fiat Berlinetta that drove Benito Mussolini and his mistress, Clara Petacci, their deaths in 1945 goes on auction in Geneva today after nearly half a century standing in a Swiss garage.
Auctioneers Brooks Europe said US and European collectors had expressed interest in the black Berlinetta two-door coupe, which he expected to fetch as much as $100,000 (pounds 62,500).
Il Duce and his mistress were captured in the Fiat as they attempted to flee Italy and were killed by resistance fighters on 28 April 1945.
