THE tenor Jose Carreras, the composer Henryk Gorecki and the 13-year-old violinist Sarah Chang were all among the winners of the Classical Music Awards 1994 which were presented at the Albert Hall in London on Friday.

The awards, which were broadcast by BBC 2 on Saturday evening, are made in association with Kenwood and supported by the Independent and the BBC Music Magazine.
