Tadpole returns to the black
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The company, whose shares have soared by almost five times since its introduction to the stock market last December, turned a taxable loss of pounds 1.4m into pounds 26,000 profit. Group sales have surged from pounds 4.6m to almost pounds 9m.
The results reflect the successful launch of the company's SPARCbook 2, the world's only portable workstation, which had led to a 'steadily increasing number of customers, particularly in North America and Europe'. Group order books amounted to pounds 5.5m at 31 March.
The company has signed a joint marketing agreement with Sun Microsystems, the US workstations giant, to promote Tadpole's expertise in custom board designs.
Growing interest from US investors has prompted the company to seek an American depositary receipt listing. A financial adviser is to be appointed shortly.
