Old Mutual 130.5p (up 2p, 1.6 per cent). Deutsche Bank upgrades the insurer to "buy" from "hold".

Manchester United 281p (up 12.75p, 4.7 per cent). The company says it has been presented with a detailed proposal from Malcolm Glazer which could see him buying the club.

Capricorn Resources 6p (up 2.75p, 84.6 per cent). Says it is in talks which may lead to a major acquisition by the company.

County Contact 12.25p (up 2.5p, 25.6 per cent). Swings into profit at the half-year stage and says it is confident about the future.

Partridge Fine Arts 72.5p (up 14p, 23.9 per cent). Confirms it is in talks which could lead to a takeover of the London-based fine art dealer.

Emblaze 225p (up 42p, 22.9 per cent). Boasts it moved into profits during the second half of 2004 and tells the market to expect it to make a profit in 2005.

QuikTrak Networks 2.62p (up 0.37p, 16.4 per cent). Raises pounds 600,000 via a placing of 41 million shares at 1.5p.

Wilshaw 9.5p (up 1.25p, 15.2 per cent). Evidence of stake-building excites.

Rentokil Initial 153.5p (down 1.25p, 0.8 per cent). Appoints Doug Flynn as its new chief executive.

EMI 235p (down 46.25p, 16.5 per cent). Warns that its full-year profits will fall nearly 20 per cent short of market expectations.

Reg Vardy 504.5p (down 25.5p, 4.7 per cent). Complains that trading in the first three months has been subdued, prompting the group to issue a full-year profits warning.

neasyJet 227.75p (down 4.25p, 1.8 per cent). Profit-taking after solid January passenger numbers.

Oxford BioMedica 19.5p (down 5p, 20.4 per cent). Announces the collapse of merger talks.

GTL Resources 4.12p (down 0.63p, 13.3 per cent). Roger Harris resigns as managing director.

Pursuit Dynamics 175.5p (down 16.5p, 8.6 per cent). Full-year results fail to excite.
