Shares in Fiat went into reverse last week after the struggling Italian group failed to resolve a lengthy dispute with General Motors of the US. The two are fighting over a deal that gave Fiat the right to force GM to take over Fiat Auto, its loss-making car division, and could now end up in court. GM's European arm has suffered tough trading, hence its reluctance to take on Fiat Auto, and it is understood to be considering closing its Saab unit in Sweden.
