Cambridge Isotopes, the chemical compounds developer, made pounds 453,000 ( pounds 521,000) pre-tax profit in the six months to 31 May. EPS 2.4p (2.8p). No dividend.

Year to 31 March

CH Bailey, the ship repairer and engineer, achieved pounds 446,000 pre- tax profit (loss pounds 1.1m). EPS 0.74p (LPS 1.8p). No dividend.

Courtyard Leisure, the restaurant and wine bar operator, incurred pounds 578,000 ( pounds 288,000) pre-tax loss. LPS worsened to 5.4p (3.1p).

Embassy Property achieved pounds 1.7m pre-tax profit (loss pounds 7.8m). EPS 3.03p (LPS 84.1p). No dividend.

Symonds Engineering announced taxable losses of pounds 611,000 (profit pounds 156,000), hit by a decline in sales to pounds 4.4m ( pounds 5.3m), its first loss. LPS 4.59p (EPS 1.1p). Total dividend is 0.15p (1p).

Tomorrows Leisure, the hotels and leisure centres group, plunged into pounds 5.8m taxable loss (profit pounds 775,000). It suffered from pounds 3.1m write-down in asset values and initial trading losses on the new leisure centre in Liverpool in line with the policy of writing off the opening costs of new developments in the year that they are incurred. LPS 45.5p (EPS 6.9p). No dividend (1.37p).

Year to 30 June

Betacom, telecommunications products developer, slumped from pounds 3.9m to pounds 516,000 pre-tax profit. EPS 0.83p (12.4p). No dividend.

Eleco Holdings, building products and property group, fell to pounds 4.8m ( pounds 6m) pre-tax profit, on turnover of pounds 47.8m ( pounds 50.3m). EPS 15.7p (20p). No dividend (3.3p).

Huntleigh Technology, the instrumentation and control systems maker, lifted pre-tax profits to pounds 3m ( pounds 2.35m). EPS 5.67p (7.45p). Dividend is 2p (1.33p).

FW Thorpe, lighting equipment maker, slipped to pounds 1.7m ( pounds 1.8m) pre-tax profit. EPS 8.6p (9.7p). Total dividend is 2.67p (2.5p).

Half year to 30 June

Atlas Converting Equipment, maker of slitting and rewinding machines and vacuum furnaces, fell to pounds 1.4m ( pounds 2.3m). EPS 10p (17.6p). Dividend is held at 7p.

JO Walker, the timber, plywood and wallboards importer, turned around from pounds 162,000 taxable loss to pounds 162,000 pre-tax profit. EPS 20.2p (LPS 19.2p). No dividend.

Storm Group, cartoons, publishing and licensing company, reversed pounds 1.1m taxable loss to make pounds 102,000 pre-tax profit, despite a sharp drop in turnover to pounds 1.8m ( pounds 4.05m). EPS 0.14p (LPS 1.49p).

Sykes-Pickavant Group, the hand tools maker and engineer, reported a steep fall in pre-tax profits to pounds 91,000 ( pounds 402,000). EPS 0.58p (2.75p). Dividend is 1.33p (2.25p).

Six months to 31 July

Helical Bar, the property firm, increased pre-tax profits 75 per cent to pounds 2.2m ( pounds 1.3m), helped by a sharp reduction in interest costs to pounds 2.9m ( pounds 6.8m). EPS doubled to 10.89p (5.01p). Dividend is 2.5p (2.4p).

Trinity Holdings, the vehicle chassis maker, made pounds 4.7m ( pounds 3.4m) pre-tax profit. Sales pounds 62.7m ( pounds 49.5m). EPS 6.2p (5.4p). Dividend is 2p.

Welpac, DIY and electrical goods supplier and lighting products maker, cut pre-tax losses to pounds 138,000 ( pounds 1.4m). LPS 5.6p (11.2p).
