Bucknall Group, the construction services provider, reduced pre-tax losses from pounds 1.9m to pounds 1.3m in the year to 30 April. Turnover fell to pounds 16.8m ( pounds 17.3m). Loss per share is cut from 13p to 10.5p. No dividend.

Regent Inns, the public houses operator, has bought Holloway Tavern, a free house in north London, for pounds 810,000 in part cash and shares.

Stonehill Holdings boosted pre-tax profits to pounds 264,000 ( pounds 49,000) in year to 31 March despite a 14 per cent fall in sales to pounds 4m ( pounds 4.7m). Earnings per share 0.03p (LPS 0.04p). No dividend.

Half-year to 30 June

Fife Indmar, the engineering components maker, distributor and services group, turned around from pounds 236,000 taxable loss to pounds 424,000 pre-tax profit on turnover down 10 per cent to pounds 15.1m ( pounds 16.9m). The recovery is attributed to the closure of three factories in the last year and the integration of depots and product lines to reduce operating costs. Turnover eased from pounds 16.9m to pounds 15.1m. Interest payments were slashed from pounds 504,000 to pounds 324,000. Earnings per share 2.7p (LPS 1.53p). Dividend is 0.75p (0.5p).

Quicks Group, the vehicles repair, rental and parts distributor, lifted pre- tax profits to pounds 1.4m ( pounds 1.1m) on a turnover down to pounds 98.5m ( pounds 99.4m). Earnings per share were 5.2p (4.4p). The interim dividend is 2p (1.75p).
