C&G savers due for bonanza
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

About 800,000 Cheltenham and Gloucester Building Society investors can look forward to receiving cash bonuses shortly after the group's pounds 1.8 billion transfer to Lloyds Bank on Tuesday. The C&G said the payments, most of which will be made by automatic electronic transfer into savers' accounts, should go through on or before 10 August. Qualifying investors with balances of pounds 100 are potentially in line for pounds 513.20 which goes up to a likely pounds 632 for a balance of pounds 1,000 and pounds 1,160 for pounds 5,000. Those with pounds 50,000 invested are set to receive a potential pounds 7,100, while people with pounds 100,000 should get pounds 13,700.
