LONDON SHARES closed modestly higher yesterday in subdued trading. The FTSE 100 finished 21.1 up at 6,451.2 after a dull session dominated by concerns over US interest rates.
Dealers said that many big players remained on the sidelines ahead of today's US consumer prices number - a key determinant of the direction of interest rates. The first day of Royal Ascot also robbed the dealing rooms of several dealers.
