Your support makes all the difference.EUROTUNNEL, the Anglo-French operator of the Channel Tunnel, has appointed advisers to help it develop studies into building a second tunnel. Maunsell Ltd and Scetauroute will help Eurotunnel prepare commercial and technical feasibility studies, as well as assessing the environmental impact. The studies are due to be presented to the French and British governments by the end of 1999.
Eurotunnel's concession includes a requirement to submit any proposals by 2000 to build a new link when economic and technical conditions permit and when the market is ready for it.If built, the new link would not open before the end of 2020, with the existing tunnel seen reaching full capacity by 2025.
