Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Virgin Holidays is offering up to 40 per cent off beach breaks booked before 15 February. The savings are on mostly non-European breaks, with the biggest savings to be found on islands in the Caribbean or Indian Ocean. For instance, seven nights at the Palms Resort in Barbados are available for just £485 per person, while a seven night half-board stay at the Coin de Mire hotel in Mauritius is just £899 per person. Both trips include return flights.

Tesco's decent telly offer

Tesco Direct is running a decent television offer online at the moment, with a Technika 32-244, fully HD, 32in television with built in Freeview available for £239. User reviews for the television are currently running at a particularly high 9.3 on the Tesco Direct website, so this is well worth considering if you're thinking of upgrading your home entertainment set-up.

Prices for students to study

Attention students! Miss Selfridge is now offering 20 per cent off all its ranges for customers who produce a valid NUS card at the checkout. The offer is only valid in-store, not online, but does include items in its extensive sale section and has no effect on Miss Selfridge's returns policy.

Valentine's romance at Asda

Asda has launched a Valentine's Day store on its website and filled it with romantic gifts at sensible prices. Those looking for luxury items may be interested in the massively discounted "experience days", which range from the sentimental (a couples photoshoot), to the simply mental (a "lovers' leap" bungee jump). For the less soppy among you, Asda is also offering 100 Valentine's Day gifts for less than £10.

Hot deal at Pizza Express

This week's top printable coupon deal comes via MyVoucherCodes.co.uk and entitles two diners to a three-course meal at Pizza Express for only £25 – that's just £12.50 each. To take advantage visit: http://ind.pn/aP9wVr, fill in the form and print the resulting voucher. The offer closes 13 February.
