Rare appearance in split jackpot
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Last week's winning numbers included 19, which had previously won only five times, the last time 15 weeks previously, and 12, a rare winner that has now appeared two weeks running. The third most prolific number, 28, also came up. But there were no odd groupings or sequences of winners, so it was not all that surprising that the jackpot was split 57 ways.
This week sees the long losing sequences lengthen further on 27, 1, 46, 20, 8, 10, while 39 remains remarkably unloved with just two wins in 70 draws, the last 12 weeks ago. Other unlucky numbers, so far at least, include 13, 27, 34, 36 and 37, which are well short of the 10 appearances in the winning frame that average luck should have brought them by now. There is a mini-run of low-scoring numbers from 8 to 13 and 34 to 37, and the most frequent individual winners are still 5, 16 and 28.
