Bargain Hunter: Get shaken and stirred at London Cocktail Week
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. If you head down to the capital next week, you can try a range of cocktails – and even mix your own – at London Cocktail Week. It claims to be the biggest drinks festival in the world and, for a tenner, you can open the door to the world of mixologists and Martinis.
The event is being held in the Seven Dials area of Covent Garden, in stores and venues such as The Cambridge Satchel Company, Coco de Mer, Foxhall London, Superdry, Tatty Devine and Detroit. You will need to buy a wristband for £10 to join in with special events, but that will get you training and sampling sessions in the area as well as a cocktail tour. To pre-register for a wristband – log on to londoncocktailweek.com or simply buy one on site. It runs from 7 to 13 October.

Supermarkets inject savings if you want a jab to fight the flu
If you're planning to get a flu jab this winter, shop around. Members of the bargain site HotUKDeals.com found the jabs cheapest at Asda and Morrisons – where they are just £7. That's nearly half the price of the same vaccine at Boots, where it costs £12.99. The jab is free at GPs for children under two, the over-65s and vulnerable adults in England.
