NORTHERN Rock Building Society is offering a one-year fixed-rate loan with interest pegged at 1.79 per cent until 1 September 1995, available for loans up to 90 per cent of the property's value.

The society is also offering a five-year fixed-rate discount mortgage with a pounds 600 cashback. The loan guarantees 1.2 per cent off the variable rate until 1 January 2000.

Bank of Ireland Mortgages has launched a 2.6 per cent loan with the interest fixed until 1 November. The loan is available for up to 90 per cent of the property valuation.

Barclays has four new fixes. For first-time buyers it is offering 4.99 per cent fixed until 31 March 1996. Other borrowers are offered 5.99 per cent fixed until 31 March 1997, or 7.45 per cent fixed until 31 January 1997.

Borrowers who take out Barclays insurance can get a special rate fixed at 6.99 per cent until 31 January 1997.
