THE ECOLOGY Building Society, based in Keighley, West Yorkshire, is offering a fixed rate of 7 per cent gross on its Earthsaver account until the end of the year. Funds - minimum pounds 1,000, maximum pounds 10,000 - must be invested for a year.

Portman Building Society offers a fixed 6.5 per cent gross on deposits between pounds 500 and pounds 25,000 on its six- month term account. A fixed 6.0 per cent is available on the one-year term account.

Bristol & West's Balmoral account is offering 7.15 per cent gross on pounds 25,000. Birmingham Midshires offers 7 per cent gross on pounds 10,000.

Prosperity offers 5.7 per cent on pounds 25,000 three-year guaranteed income bonds.
