COLUMBUS Travel Insurance has launched a policy for holidays in the UK. Benefits include up to pounds 1,000 for loss of deposit through cancellation, pounds 10,000 for accidents and pounds 2,000 for repatriation to the policyholder's home in the UK. Premiums start at pounds 5.50 per adult for up to five days, with six to 10 days' cover at pounds 6.50 and 24 to 31 days' at pounds 10.

Columbus is also offering a policy called Globetrotter aimed at backpackers under 35. There is no baggage cover, unless the policyholder requests it, but personal liability and medical cover are each set at pounds 1m. Premiums range from pounds 20 a month worldwide to pounds 180 for 12 months. Columbus can be contacted on 071- 375 0011.
