Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

THE HOLIDAY club season is under way among credit card issuers. Barclaycard Holiday Club offers spending money of between pounds 20 and pounds 500 on holidays booked with more than 80 tour operators.

The club guarantees the lowest holiday prices and offers to refund the difference if customers find the same deal cheaper elsewhere within seven days.

The money back on a pounds 1,758 holiday for four in Florida in September would amount to pounds 80.

Halifax Building Society is offering a range of discounts on holidays and flights booked by its Visa and Maxim current account customers through its own holiday service.

The discounts range from pounds 10 on holidays costing between pounds 150 and pounds 199 to pounds 500 on a basic price of more than pounds 8,500.

There are also free travel bags for those who pay the full cost of their holiday with a Halifax Visa or Maxim payment.
