From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The singer songwriter, who is nominated for Best Original Song for “I’ll Fight, was spotted on the red carpet with a small doll resembling the Supreme Court Justice tucked into the pocket of her white trouser suit.
In an interview with PeopleTV, the 62-year-old said of her doll: “RBG decided to come with me!
“She’s really healthy! She’s smaller than you thought, right?”
Earlier this morning, Warren showed her and her miniature Ginsburg figurine “enjoying” a cup of coffee together ahead of the Oscars.

“Happy Oscars Day!!!!!” Warren captioned the snap of herself holding a coffee mug which featured a cartoon drawing of Ginsburg and the word “dissent”.
The Ginsburg doll can be seen perched atop a copy of the Los Angeles Times.
The star’s song “I’ll Fight,” was performed by actor/singer Jennifer Hudson during the Oscars ceremony, and originally featured in the documentary RBG. The documentary, based on Ginsburg’s life, was also nominated for a Best Documentary award at tonight's Oscars but lost out to Free Solo.
In a recent interview with Good Morning America, Warren explained why her Oscar-nominated song was the perfect fit Ginsburg.
"She speaks so softly, but what she says is so powerful and I wanted to write a song that captured that and having someone like Jennifer Hudson sing it became her vocal avatar," Warren told GMA.
"Like if Ruth Bader Ginsburg could sing in my mind it would be Jennifer Hudson."
