From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

A woman says she ended her marriage after discovering her husband was cheating when she recognised the view from her bedroom window - on another woman's Instagram feed.

The Independent has covered the usual ways in which to catch your significant other cheating (chattier than usual, more interested in sex, refusing to make long-term plans) but we didn't expect a man's infidelity to be exposed in such an unusual way.

Yulia Agranovych, from Russia, says she was scrolling through her Instagram feed when she discovered a major clue that her husband was straying. She made the claims on the Russian news channel Ren-TV.

Agranovych said “I wasn’t searching for anything, it was a normal morning,” when she opened the app and came across an account owned by Vlada Abramovich.

Clicking on the account, Agranovych noticed she and the woman had a lot of followers in common - among other things, as it turned out.

One picture, in particular, caught her eye - a post of the view from Agranovych’s own bedroom window. Her interest piqued, Agranovych then found “many other interesting photographs, including those of my husband.”

Acting as any other scorned wife would, Agranovych confronted both her husband and his mistress, even commenting on Abramovich’s post, “Beautiful view from my husband’s bedroom.”

Initially, the guilty couple denied the claims, with Agranovych’s husband insisting Vlada was not his mistress, but the girlfriend of a friend, and she had taken the picture when he had invited some friends over for a drink before heading to the movies.

The mistress, on the other hand, was less willing to go along with the lie. Unapologetically admitting to sleeping with Agranovych’s husband on social media, Vlada posted that “She is his wife, not mine, what’s the problem?” and sarcastically asked, “Is he just a vegetable without free will? Don’t make me laugh.”

Clearly having no other choice but to come clean, Agranovych’s husband admitted to having lovers while his wife was away - but insisted he was never “mentally unfaithful” and “told every girl he was married.” Because that makes it better, right?

Agranovych then decided to reach out to all the other women her husband had had affairs with. Agranovych said, "The other girls were much more pleasant, one even crying on the phone to me, saying she had no idea he was married."

Agranovych said, for her, divorce is the only answer. Taking the high road, she said, "If he finds a woman who is ready to be with him, and to accept it, let them be happy together." She is just glad she "got to know about it now and not when I became pregnant, for example, because we were planning to have a family."
