Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Rhythm Sticks, the festival of drumming and percussion from across the globe returns for a third year to the Royal Festival Hall, from tomorrow to 20 July.

This year's event, supported by The Independent, is bigger and noisier than ever. As well drumming up support from top-name artists such as Bill Bruford, Billy Cobham, Glen Velez and Vikku Vinayakram, there is free foyer music, workshops, a children's concert, as well as the Rhythm Sticks Fair on the last day.

For tickets and further information, call the box office on 0171-960 4242.

To get you in the rhythm mood, we are offering a first prize of a pair of Meinl Percussion Marathon wood congas (right) which update the traditional drum form using the best new materials and modern design.

Also on offer are 10 annual subscriptions to Rhythm Magazine, which features reviews of the latest equipment, plus tips and techniques from some of the world's most accomplished artists.

We also have 10 copies of each of the following CDs from artists appearing at Rhythm Sticks on offer: Te Vaka, Pacific Music; Bill Bruford, Earthworks; Glen Velez, Rhythmcolor Exotica; Chaurasia & Vinayakram, Live at the Royal Festival Hall; The Jazz Percussion Quintet, All Bluff and Porterage II; Guo Yue & Joji Hirota, Red Ribbon and Billy Cobham, Nordic.

Send your details on a postcard, by 18 July, to: Eye Rhythm Sticks Offer, c/o Jane Arnold, Dewynters PLC, 48 Leicester Square, London, WC2H 7QD.

First entry out of the hat wins the Meinl wood congas, an annual subscription to Rhythm Magazine and a set of all seven of the above CDs. The next nine picked out will receive an annual subscription and one of the CDs, and the next 51 entries picked out the hat will win a CD.
