Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.MechCommander is a PC CD Rom strategy battle game in which huge robotic warriors compete to gain power over sections of planet. Riding high in the PC charts, the gameplay relies on realistic combat tactics and the careful deployment of finite resources, as each command issued by the player holds consequences that carry over from mission to mission. In MechCommander, players are placed in command of Zulu Company, First Davion Guards. Their goal is to retake the planet Port Arthur from the technologically-superior Smoke Jaguar Clan. MechCommander is the first game to allow its players to command up to 12 MechWarriors and BattleMechs in battle. From a total of 18 available chassis, 29 weapons and 9 sensors, players can create a unique force, custom-built to execute their strategy.
We have 15 copies of the game to give away. For a chance to win, send your name, address and daytime phone no on a postcard to: Coalition, 12 Barley Mow Passage, London W4 4PH by 28 Aug. The first cards pulled from the hat win.
