Where shall we meet?: Cuba Bar Restaurant
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Proms Gallery types will feel at home in this noisy, crowded little bar, which is one of the last watering holes between High Street Kensington tube and the Albert Hall. At first sight it may seem impossibly crowded, but penetrate the long narrow bar and you may find a sticky little table at the rear under the skylight. Stay for happy hour and you could end up rotten stinking happy as the 'hour lasts from opening time until 8.30pm, during which time margaritas are pounds 2.50, the sangria pounds 5.95 a pitcher and house wine pounds 5.75 a bottle. A young, often hispanic crowd shouts loudly above the salsa muzak. The waiters are brisk and willing, but women alone may find them just a tiny bit of a nuisance. 5pm-2am Mon-Sat, 5.30-11.30 Sun.
