Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

It may be known for its cheap pints, garish carpets, and less-than-salubrious interiors - so could you ever be tempted to hold your wedding at a Wetherspoons? You might when you discover the price.

There's a single Wetherspoons outlet in the UK with a marriage licence, meaning you can combine Thursday Curry Club with your nuptials, if you fancy it.

With room to feed and seat 100 of your closest friends and family members, the all-inclusive Wetherspoons wedding special is an offer hard to pass up with its £3,000 price tag.

The £3,000 price for a budget Wetherspoons wedding gets newly married brides and grooms exclusive use of the venue - until Saturday at 1am or Sunday until midnight, a three-course sit-down meal or buffet for all 100 guests, depending on preference, sparkling wine for a toast and room for an additional 200 guests after dinner.

And that is not all; in addition to covering food and drinks, newlyweds won’t have to spend a moment worrying about decor and wedding planning- as Wetherspoons has them covered.

The venue will provide table decor, a wedding host, a live DJ, if the couple wants, and the finest wine Wetherspoons has to offer (Coldwater Creek) all included in the price.

Couples can say "I do" at Wetherspoons for the bargain price of £3,000

The all-inclusive package for 100 guests with dinner and wine is a snip compared to the average spend of £10,745 - the price newlyweds pay for ceremony, reception, catering, and entertainment, according to Brides Magazine.

With additional costs like the dress, rings, makeup, and honeymoon to consider, the idea of tying the knot in a Wetherspoons sounds quite appealing.

Sadly, there's just a single Wetherspoons outlet in the UK with a marriage licence - but if your dream of saying ”‘I Do” has always included Wetherspoons, currently the Knights Templar in London is capable of fulfilling all your wedding wishes.

Hopefully the beloved pub chain will be expanding the offer soon.
