From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Just when you thought the unicorn trend had peaked – think unicorn frappuccinos, bagels, pool floats, iPhone cases, nail art and meringues – one popular food brand has created something none of us saw coming: unicorn cereal.

Responding to the ongoing trend, Kellogg’s has launched a limited edition Unicorn Froot Loops breakfast cereal. And you can buy it in the UK right now.

The cereal hoops which have been given a magical makeover are only available to buy at Asda for now, with a price tag of £2.79. But according to the brand’s Instagram you can expect it to be hitting more stores in three week’s time.

As well as bringing fun, colour and magic to the breakfast table, the kaleidoscopic creation could actually be a little healthier than it looks.

According to Kellogg’s, it comes fortified with vitamins C and B, calcium and iron as well as being made using only natural colours.

"The appeal of limited edition character takeovers on the pack and embracing current trends is something that works well in store and is popular with our consumers," says Michaela Mayoh, brand manager for cereal marketing UK and ROI.

Unsurprisingly, the multi-coloured breakfast cereal has proved a huge hit on social media with people sharing images of the stunningly childish, glittery box.

“Got unicorn cereal today. Life is complete,” one person wrote on Twitter.

Taking to Instagram one delighted customer wrote, “Ohhhh my goodness!!!!! I neeeeeeeed these... literally my dream cereal!”

Another added, “This totally brightened up our usual food shop.”
